The electronic emulator of the catalyst could be used in case of removing vehicles’catalyst with two lambda probes/sensors (before the catalyst and after it). This module is installed in the open circuit of the second lambda probe. This does not require any reprogramming of the engine control units (ECU/ ECM), the entire system is operating in normal mode, and diagnostic is fully preserved. Microprocessor is the main part of the emulator.
It works only with zirconium lambda sensors. If the first one lambda sensor is also zirconium and the voltage on the AGND is the same, the signal could be fed to the emulator from the first lambda sensor. This kind of configuration does not request the installed catalyst and the second lambda sensor. Only the presence of glow is required from the
second lambda sensor. If the catalyst cannot be removed it is necessary to check the integrity of the device with probe camera or by installing a t-piece with a pressure sensor on the first lambda sensor.
Installation Instructions
• Determine what type of lambda sensor is installed in your car.
• Identify the signal wire and the AGND.
• Disconnect the battery/accumulator, remove the connector from the control unit.
• Using a tester, check up the wires coming from the lambda sensor.
• Install the emulator near the control unit in a dry place.
• The yellow and black wires cannot be lengthened!
• Do not fill the emulator with sealants or silicone!
• Cut the signal wire. Connect the yellow wire to the lambda. The blue one to the control unit.
• Connect the black wire of the emulator to the vehicle's body.
• Connect the white wire of the emulator to the AGND.
• Connect the red wire of the emulator to the ignition.
• Attention! In some cars (Lexus for example) positive glow goes off.
• In case there are four lambdas in your vehicle (two of them are the first, and two are the second) then you need two emulators.
Removing the catalyst is recommended and installing the stronger (flame arrester) instead.
- Consumption would be reduced
- The catalyst could melt and block the exhaust
- The catalyst may collapse and damage the piston
- The residual conversion of the catalyst added to the emulator could affect the result and produce errors
It is important to do check after connection:
• Start the car
• Switch to petrol
• Wait until the engine reaches 90 degrees
• Keep an eye on the values by the diagnostics or the conventional tester (between the blue and white wires) after the emulators
• The voltage at idle should be 0.650V-0.750V. If the value is beyond the range, then remove the crosspiece.
• Raise the speed to 3000 and abruptly reset - the emulator’s output voltage should go down to 0 mV.
• It is necessary to drive 200-300 km on gasoline.
• If the gas is installed, a new gasoline card should be compiled.
• Check by the diagnostics a long time fuel trim/LTFT.
